Our Goals

The Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative works to improve the land, water and communities within the Anacostia River corridor. Meanwhile, we work to increase our own capacity, organizationally and individually, to understand and connect with the communities near the river and to work with each other in order to achieve our vision and our goals.

Quality of Life

Enhance the quality of life of residents and other stakeholder in communities near the river by improving access to economic opportunities, affordable housing, wellness and healthcare, and outdoor recreation opportunities.

Environmental Justice

Enhance environmental justice in communities east of the river by cleaning up the Anacostia River and the broader local environment, including enhancing climate resiliency for the long-term health of the community.

Connect to the River

Help to create welcoming, usable, activated Anacostia riverfront parks that physically, socially and culturally connect communities near the river.

Building Capacity

Central to the work of APACC is building the capacity of members and the community so that together, APACC and communities in the Anacostia River corridor can advance a shared community-driven agenda to improve the quality of live in Wards 7 and 8 and protects and restores natural resources.

As part of this effort, APACC publishes a regular updates full with information about resources, opportunities, and tools for non-profits and advocates. It's free for all, not just APACC members.
