The "Year of the Anacostia" Candidates Forum

The Anacostia Park and Community Collaborative (APACC), a coalition of nonprofit organizations focused on the revitalization of the Anacostia River corridor in Wards 7 and 8, is hosting a “Year of the Anacostia”-themed Candidates Forum for the At-large and Council chair races.

2018 has been declared the “Year of the Anacostia,” and the improvement of the Anacostia River corridor is increasingly covered in the news. The Forum will be an opportunity for all attending Candidates to discuss their platform as it relates to the intersection of environmental restoration and community development. Students will conduct a straw poll at the end of the forum.

This event will be held Thursday, May 31, 5:30-9:00 pm, at Anacostia High School, 1601 16th Street SE. The moderators are Denise Rolark Barnes, publisher of The Washington Informer newspaper, and Andrew Lightman, managing editor of Capital Community News (DC MidCity, Hill Rag, and East of the River newspapers). The Anacostia Coordinating Council, a member of APACC, is coordinating the event.
