Friends of Oxon Run
Join in on all the fun with Friends of Oxon Run. Oxon Run Park has over 100 acres of adventure to enjoy at your leisure and serves as the largest green space in the Department of Recreations inventory.
Through partnership efforts The Well also calls Oxon Run Park home where DC Greens provides a safe and peaceful environment through activating the space by growing flowers, string beans, onions, collard greens, cabbage, and lettuce just to name a few. There are fig trees, native and oriental persimmon trees with chickens to fill the coop coming very soon. Residents are able to learn about growth and sustainability through various programs offered.

The green space also has a variety of amenities for the community to enjoy such as the Amphitheater, baseball fields, basketball courts, rain gardens, picnic areas, swimming, and the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center. The beautiful green space is surrounded by Charles Hart Middle School, Ballou High School, and Simon Elementary. A distinctive quality about Oxon Run Park is the Magnolia Bark, Black Walnut Trees which make a delicious ice cream, and has 250 Cherry Blossom Trees that were donated by the Cherry Blossom Festival Committee. There is plenty of space to walk your dog, jog, or ride your bike. The solar farm is another added value to Oxon Run Park which aides in reducing the cost of energy bills for residents in the area.
